The Sonoma County District Attorney, Family Support Division, realized the importance of having managers who are able to communicate clearly with professionals in other agencies and the public. They contacted the Business Writing Center about courses available. After evaluating their writing, the Center suggested that managers participate in the Business Writing Skills course.

The course contains training in

  1. setting objectives and analyzing the reader
  2. making the writing structure so clear it cannot be misunderstood
  3. strategies for making having impact
  4. communicating so the writing is clear to people who may have difficult understanding complex, technical writing
  5. editing and polishing skills
  6. writing concisely
  7. formatting writing
  8. proofreading

The agency is sending its second group of managers through this year.
