Yahoo! Broadcasting Inc. in Dallas wanted a workshop in business writing skills that included some training in basic usage. However, they could not take their employees away from their work for an entire day.

They wanted a workshop that would

  1. train employees in business writing skills, especially writing e-mails to help clients clarify their needs
  2. train employees in basic usage skills such as punctuation and sentence style
  3. take employees away from their duties for short periods
  4. not require having the trainer travel more than once to the company site

The Business Writing Center developed a workshop that

  1. trained employees in business writing skills, especially writing e-mails to help clients clarify their needs
  2. trained employees in basic usage skills such as punctuation and sentence style
  3. divided employees into three classes that met for two and one-half hours a day each day for three days
  4. did not require having the trainer travel more than once to the company site
  5. used the fee structure for a three-day workshop rather than three one-day workshops to reduce company costs

They liked the workshop well enough that they recommended it to Yahoo! Broadcasting in Atlanta. The Business Writing Center used the same workshop format there, but in two days instead of three.
